As we wind down from another exciting Fall season at High Point Market, we’re thrilled to bring you the latest trends and innovations shaping the interior design world. High Point Market is not just about the incredible products on display—it’s a meeting point for designers, artists, and creatives who inspire each other to push boundaries in design and technology. We interviewed interior design educator Jenna Gaidusek to get the low down on the people, places, and product at HPMKT Fall 2024.

The Intersection of Technology and Design: AI Meets Product Development

One of the most exciting shifts this year has been the integration of AI into product design. Designers and manufacturers are experimenting with AI-generated concepts and imagery to produce bold, innovative models and plans. This tech-driven creativity blends seamlessly with the artistry of designers to produce stunning, original pieces.

Trending Colors: A Warm, Earthy Palette

The color trends for Fall 2024 at High Point are firmly rooted in warm, earthy hues that evoke the richness of nature. Grays are gradually being replaced with browns, enriched with bold shades of hunter green, olive green, burnt orange, and mustard yellow. These vibrant colors bring a cozy, fall-inspired warmth to interiors, and are balanced by tactile fabrics. Showrooms are increasingly showcasing large furniture pieces in these colors, moving away from neutral whites and grays and providing designers with inspiring options that translate well in real-world spaces.

Textures Take Center Stage

The move toward more vibrant and textured materials is transforming the feel of showrooms at High Point. We’re seeing a shift from simple, one-dimensional linen fabrics to rich, layered textiles that provide a sensory appeal beyond just appearance. These tactile materials invite clients to engage with the design, providing an immersive experience that can be shared through video or photos without requiring full product renderings. This added depth in fabrics and finishes allows designers to present clients with more lifelike and appealing options.

Standout items also include accent chairs with unique backs, showcasing intricate designs that can truly float within a space. These range from structured, linear forms to softer, more organic shapes, making them visually captivating statement pieces in any setting.

Statement Consoles and Stone

Statement consoles are evolving with a unique twist this year—natural and faux stones are becoming a staple in high-impact case pieces like tables, consoles, and nightstands. These pieces use a mix of natural and artificial stone to keep prices accessible while achieving a high-end look. Backlighting and inlaid stones are also adding a dramatic flair, highlighting the beauty of the material and bringing a touch of luxury. Stone is even making its way into kitchen and bath design, suggesting that this trend is only set to expand.

Blush Tones as the New Neutral

Blush tones have gained traction as a fresh, versatile neutral that brings warmth without overpowering other elements in a room. Showcased widely at Market, blush works beautifully alongside the earthy palette and vibrant hues we saw, adding a delicate softness to the overall design scheme. This trend demonstrates the versatility of neutrals, offering an elegant option that complements both bold and understated interiors.
